In 2007, she received a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where she studied documentary radio. Her first documentary, ‘Timber!’, examined the aftermath of the 1990’s timber crisis in Southwest Washington State where she was raised. Intrigued by the rapidly changing landscape of her hometown, Jessica returned to the west coast in order to report on rural Washington State. She is currently working on a series of articles set in Grays Harbor County, including a new media project on the National Grange, the oldest farming union in America.
Her work has appeared in The Providence Journal, Orlando Sentinel, Naples Daily News, Arkansas Democrat Gazette, and The Raleigh News and Observer.
While not examining trends in regional America, she can be found designing for her label, Trixie & Duke, loitering at her favorite Capitol Hill coffee shop, or trying to teach her French Bulldog, Henry, a new trick.
